Each of the two players has 14 pieces on a 64-square board.

To win, all you have to do is combine at least 3 of them in the centre of the board. But be careful: each piece represents a word and the combination must make a sentence!

In turn, each player moves a piece from square to square, following the strategy of his choice: eliminate the opponent's pieces and risk a draw, or try to use them to his advantage by integrating them into his own combination to win.

Game after game, an sequence of phrases takes shape, or a dialogue, or a story, depending on the players' mood!

And if you're wondering what the punctuation marks on the pieces are for... take a look at the movement scores!

Variant: in the ring

The In the ring version is a variant that uses the four edges of the board and is played by 2 players or in teams of 2 against 2.

To make your sentence, you need to send your pieces into the ring in the centre of the board. Whether you are playing solo or as a duo, make sure you choose which ones go first, because once they are in the ring, you risk losing them.

Turning grammar into a puzzle

Look at the picture on the left. You're playing white, and have the opportunity to win by making a move with one of your pieces.

Look at line 4, where the determiner and adjective give way perfectly to the noun at the bottom of the picture. In a single move, the noun comes between them and... “Le chien bleu” or "Un chocolat chaud", for a French example, is a sentence!

Shall we do another? See you on Instagram, where I post 2 a week!

Support game development

The Rimboxing Club game is based on the same poetics as my other work: demonstrating creativity by mixing gesture and word.

The huge number of possible movements on the board gives it almost infinite replayability, and its grammatical mechanics ensure that it can be played in a large number of languages.

It's a game with immense potential, international, competitive, educational... a game that encourages reflection, creativity and the discovery of foreign languages.

It's a game that needs help to develop. So why not support such a wonderful project?
